CITIZENSHIP

VANUATU

Vanuatu offers a Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP), also known as the Vanuatu Development Support Programme (VDSP), which was established in 2017. This programme allows individuals and their families to obtain Vanuatuan citizenship through a financial contribution, providing them with the benefits of a second passport in this Pacific island nation.

Key Features of Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment Programme:

Investment Requirement:

  • Contribution to the Vanuatu Development Support Programme (VDSP): A non-refundable donation to the VDSP. The minimum contribution is $130,000 for a single applicant, $150,000 for a main applicant and spouse, $165,000 for a family of three (including spouse) and $180,000 for a family of four. Additional fees apply for larger families and additional dependents.

Residency Requirement:

  • There is no mandatory residency requirement, allowing flexibility for applicants who do not wish to relocate.

Application Process:

  • Initial Consultation: Engage with an authorised agent to guide you through the process.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and gather required documents, including identification, proof of funds, medical examinations and a clean criminal record certification.
  • Application Submission: Submit the completed application through an authorised agent.
  • Due Diligence: Undergo a thorough due diligence process conducted by the Vanuatu authorities to ensure the legitimacy of the applicant.
  • Approval and Contribution: Upon approval in principle, make the required financial contribution to the VDSP.
  • Citizenship Certificate: Receive the Certificate of Naturalisation and then apply for a Vanuatuan passport.

Processing Time:

  • The processing time is typically around one to two months from submission to approval, making it one of the fastest citizenship by investment programmes available.

Benefits:

  • Visa-Free Travel: Vanuatuan passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 100 countries, including the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Singapore.
  • Dual Citizenship: The programme allows dual citizenship, so applicants do not need to renounce their existing nationality.
  • Tax Advantages: Vanuatu has no income tax, wealth tax, capital gains tax or inheritance tax – providing a favourable tax environment.
  • Quality of Life: Vanuatu offers a high quality of life with its tropical climate, beautiful landscapes and relaxed lifestyle.
  • Family Inclusion: The programme allows for the inclusion of the main applicant’s spouse, dependent children under 25, and dependent parents over 50.
  • Confidential Process: The application process is confidential and Vanuatu does not disclose information to the applicant’s home country.

Investing in contemporary art has gained popularity in recent years as more people recognise its potential not just as a form of cultural expression, but also as a viable investment option. Contemporary art refers to art created by living artists in today’s world; reflecting current issues, trends and techniques.

Another aspect that makes contemporary art an attractive investment is its ability to diversify a portfolio. Art investments do not necessarily follow the same trends as traditional financial markets, so they can serve as a hedge against market volatility. This diversity can help mitigate risk and potentially enhance overall portfolio performance.me
